Integrative IV Therapy

Vertisis Is Innovating Patient Care

At Vertisis, we place an emphasis on integrative medicine and enhancing the body's own ability to heal through targeted personalized medications specific to each individual patient's needs. Vitamins and minerals are part of the list of nutrients that the human body needs to stay healthy, but did you know that these same components can be used to greater effect than mere nourishment? In addition to being a much needed tool for patients who have suffered illness or injury which disallow ingestion of food orally, IV therapy can be used to increase overall energy and reduce fatigue by providing therapeutic doses beyond what can possibly be consumed orally. Our state-of-the-art pharmacy is here to provide the highest quality medicine to meet your requirements and every batch we produce is tested by independent, third party laboratories, so you know it is of the highest quality, every time.

Our physiological levels of nutrients can fluctuate greatly depending on underlying chronic or acute diseases, activity levels, poor digestive assimilation, altered microbiota, ageing, or even genomic inborn errors of metabolism via SNP alterations just to name a few. When nutrition and essential co-factors are ignored the patient is vulnerable to fatigue, disease, weakened immunity, poor mental health, poor physical health, and overall stagnant recovery.

There are many reasons to use customized formulations via IV administration to help your patients. Highly bioavailable vitamins, amino acids, electrolytes, phytotherapeutics, and minerals are needed to improve energy, healing, and overall health. While it is common knowledge these nutrients are necessary, many physicians are beginning to realize it is the intravenous administration with hydrating fluids that makes all the difference in the patient's ability to utilize these key nutrients. This increased utilization is a product of the heightened bioavailability that comes from intravenous administration. Our state-of-the-art pharmacy is here to provide the highest quality medicine to meet your requirements and every batch we produce is tested by independent, third party laboratories, so you know it is of the highest quality and purity every time you administer care to your patient.

Vertisis focuses on being compliant with the latest in pharmaceutical laws and wants to help keep your practice USP 797 compliant. IV delivery of nutrients is often under prescribed and underutilized by practitioners due to lack of knowledge, training, confidence and legal compliance concerns. The body's demand for fluids and various nutrients can vary greatly depending on the various stressors the patient is experiencing. From infections, cold and flus, support of chronic diseases, post operative recovery, overwork and exhaustion, to chemotherapy recovery there are numerous unique formulations to aid the patient's body in the recovery process. Let Vertisis help you navigate through the process to start utilizing IV medications in your practice.

What is IV Therapy with in integrative medicine?

IV therapy, or intravenous vitamin, amino acid, phytotherapeutic, and mineral replacement therapy is a technique used to get mostly naturally occurring compounds such as vitamins or amino acids into the body in a fashion which is far more therapeutic and effective than taking the same supplements orally. Many vitamin, mineral, and amino supplements are actually not well absorbed by the gastrointestinal system due to low bioavailability, pathogenic microbiota, and simply the aging process. IV therapy is a way to bypass those barriers preventing adequate absorption and achieve therapeutic levels of nutrients. Bioavailability refers to the actual amount of a drug or compound that is absorbed or becomes available to interact directly with the cells of the body after administration. There are many obstacles that can block drug access preventing the desired effect in the intended area. These obstacles can vary from cell membranes, to first pass metabolism, to failure and blockages of uptake in the gastrointestinal tract, and alterations in genomic SNPs. Vitamins and minerals are important to support the pharmacokinetics of some medications as well as help them penetrate into the cells of the body, where they can perform their mechanism of action. Administration of these components via the bloodstream can improve patient compliance and outcomes. The heightened bioavailability achieved through IV administration can change the nutrients mechanism of action within the body to favor patient care in a safe and well tolerated manner by most patients. Vertisis formulas are correctly buffered with only the purest products to not irritate veins and prevent venous scarring.

Why use IV Therapy?

IV therapy is used for a variety of reasons:

  • To provide nourishment for those who cannot eat as a result of an injury or an illness
  • To improve athletic performance and reduce resulting muscle fatigue
  • To provide relief from veisalgia (otherwise known as “hangover”) symptoms
  • To relieve symptoms associated with withdrawal from alcohol or drug use. (Post-Acute Withdrawal Syndrome)
  • To increase immune resiliency against bacterial or viral infections
  • To improve overall energy and reduce fatigue

One of the most common preparations of IV therapy is a Myer's Cocktail, which usually consists of a mixture of magnesium, calcium, B vitamins, and vitamin C. While Vertisis can prepare a standard Myer's Cocktail, we have the experience, know-how, and educational tools to help you prepare a fully customized Myer's Cocktail with any number of vitamin, mineral or amino components and in any concentration you might desire for your patient's therapeutic needs. What started out many years ago as the “old school” Myer's bag has developed into a multitude of customizable options that Vertisis provides with unique agents at the correctly osmolarity and best synergistic combinations for optimal therapeutic care. We are happy to help assist you as you build unique formulations and customizations for your patients.
